After a rough weekend in Houston and a midweek loss to McNeese State, the LSU Tigers returned home and easily took care of Wichita State during a three-game series at Alex Box Stadium.
The Tigers completed the sweep of the Shockers with a 9-2 victory on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Eric Walker pitched six shutout innings for his 2nd win of the season. LSU's starting pitching was outstanding this weekend. Alex Lange, Jared Poche and Walker did not give up a run.
The Tigers number three hitter, Antoine Duplantis drove in four runs as he had two two-run singles. Duplantis had seven hits and drove in seven runs against the Shockers.
LSU's new lead-off hitter also had a big weekend. Shortstop Kramer Robertson scored three times on Sunday and for the series he had six hits and scored seven times.
LSU is now 12-4 on the year and will get ready for a busy week.
The Tigers will host Louisiana College on Tuesday. The Tigers scheduled this game against the Wildcats, after last Tuesday's game against San Diego was rained out. On Wednesday, LSU hosts UNO, who beat the Tigers earlier this season at Maestri Field.
And then SEC play begins on Friday as the Georgia Bulldogs come to the Box. The Dawgs are 7-10 on the year.
