Report: Less than 22% kids are getting enough exercise

Less than one quarter of children in the US are getting enough exercise, according to a report by LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center. The 2016 US Report Card on Physical Activity for Children finds that less than 22% of children ages 6 to 19 meet the physical activity guidelines.

A new study by LSU's Pennington Biomedical Research Center points to the lack of physical activity as the number one predictor of childhood obesity.  Lead author, Dr. Peter Katzmarzyk, says what makes this study unique is that it was conducted in 12 countries around the world.
