An Arnaudville teen has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and attempted first-degree murder following an early Wednesday morning police pursuit.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Major Ginny Higgins says the 17-year-old Dartamian Landry refused to pull over when deputies attempted the 2 AM traffic stop.

Officers say a three-year-old toddler has died as the result of an alleged accidental shooting in St. Martin Parish. Police have arrested the uncle 28-year-old Dracolby Numa Journet of Arnaudville. He has been charged with Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Obstruction of Justice. Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Major Ginny Higgins says cops responded to the call around 7pm Thursday.

One arrested in the murder of a pregnant St. Martin Parish woman

An arrest has been made in the murder of a St. Martin Parish woman who was eight months pregnant. Major Ginny Higgins says authorities arrested 32-year-old Toni Trimble Thomas and she is charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of first degree feticide. She says the investigation is ongoing to determine why Ashley Nicole Meche was murdered.

Severe weather causes extensive damage across Louisiana

Severe weather across the state resulted in two deaths and multiple injuries, as well as road closures and downed power lines. Maj. Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office says two people were killed when an EF1 tornado touched down in a rural area of the parish.

Two armed robbery suspects wanted in Baton Rouge shot by homeowner in Breaux Bridge

Two suspects are in critical condition in the case of an apparent robbery in which a Breaux Bridge homeowner shot the men as they were trying to enter the residence armed with a gun. Major Ginny Higgins, with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, says one of the suspects rang the doorbell of the resident's home around 3am this morning.

Three men arrested for cockfighting in Breaux Bridge

After a lengthy investigation, authorities in St. Martin Parish have busted a cockfighting ring in Breaux Bridge. Major Ginny Higgins says three men were arrested for their part in cockfighting and were booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

3 killed including toddler in St. Martin Parish domestic situation

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's office says three people are dead, including a 3-year-old little girl, after a fatal domestic situation. Spokeswoman Ginny Higgins says they received a frantic 911 call from one of the victims, 72-year-old Leola Blanchard, who advised that she'd been shot by her husband, 58-year-old Clifford Blanchard.

Hunter and son found mother and missing children in St. Martin Parish

There was a huge celebration late Monday in St. Martin Parish when a young mother and two 4-year-old children were found after being missing more than a day. The group of four had been riding an ATV in a heavily wooded, dense area Sunday when they broke down and one left for help. Major Ginny Higgins says they had many volunteers come out.

2nd person arrested in alleged dog fighting operation

A second person has been arrested as a result of an alleged dog fighting operation that was broken up last week in Breaux Bridge. St. Martin Parish Sheriff spokesperson Ginny Higgins says 33-year-old Antonio Boyd is facing 47-counts of cruelty to animals and his bond has been set at 140-thousand dollars.

47 dogs seized in bust of alleged dog fighting ring

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's office says a 25-year-old man from Natchitoches is facing dog fighting charges after investigators found 47 dogs during a search of a Breaux Bridge residence. Major Ginny Higgins says they received an anonymous tip regarding suspicious activity going on at this location.
