State Police are investigating the officer-involved shooting death of an alleged stabbing suspect at a Slidell gas station Sunday night. Trooper Jeremey Price said Slidell Police and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the call.
“Was on the parking lot of a Circle K, on Airport Road just north of I-12. The initial call was someone was stabbed at that location and then ultimately officers responded to the scene and shots took effect,” said Price.
Police have identified the suspect that was shot as 43-year old Cable McCree.
Price said the stabbings of two victims happened inside the gas station, the officer-involved shooting of the suspect happened outside in the parking lot.
“Their encounter is all under investigation, very preliminary. I know there is some unsubstantiated video floating around. They ended up having to discharge their weapons, and they struck him, and he did die at the scene,” said Price.
Price said LSP will head up the investigation involving the shooting.
“Who the personnel are that were involved and what status is going to be, that’s being handled by their individual agencies and the stabbing portion of this is going to be handled by Slidell PD,” said Price.
Names of the stabbing victims have not been released.
